How do I create an account?
Download the Float app and sign up with your email and phone number. We use a one-time code to verify your phone and secure your account.
I'm having trouble logging in
Make sure you entered the correct email and password. See Troubleshooting below for more help.

How do I verify my phone number?
Enter your phone number and confirm the one-time code sent via SMS. If you do not receive the code, check signal, disable Do Not Disturb, and try again after 60 seconds.
Can I update my profile picture?
Yes. Go to your profile to update your profile picture. Changes sync across your activity and groups.
Receipts & Splitting
Upload receipts and split by shares or exact amounts.
How do I upload a receipt?
From the camera tab, tap Upload Receipt, choose a photo or take a picture, then confirm items and totals. You can edit the title and tax/tip.
What splitting methods are supported?
You can split evenly, by shares, or assign exact amounts per person. Adjust additional charges and choose how they are split.
Can I edit or delete an expense after creating it?
Yes. Open the expense, tap Edit to adjust items, assignments, or totals. You can delete an expense if it was created by mistake.
Payments & Venmo
Send payment details and settle up easily.
How do I connect Venmo?
In your profile, connect Venmo by entering your Venmo username. We generate payment details for you to send in Venmo to the right person.
How do I send payment details to friends?
From an expense, tap Send Payment Details to copy amounts and notes for Venmo or your preferred method.
Notifications

How do I enable push notifications?
When prompted, allow notifications. You can also enable them in device settings. We use them to remind you about receipts and payments.
I am not receiving notifications
Check device settings to ensure Float has permission. Also confirm you are logged in and have not disabled notification types in the app.

Troubleshooting
Fix common issues quickly.
I didn't receive the verification SMS
Wait 60 seconds and request a new code. Ensure signal is strong and that SMS is not blocked. Restarting your device can also help.
My receipt image will not upload
Check your connection and try again. If the image is very large, try retaking the photo with good lighting to improve recognition.
Totals do not look correct
Refresh the expense and confirm item assignments, tax, and tip. If the issue persists, contact support with the expense title and date.
